Welcome to Mpumalanga

"The place where the sun rises" – This is the English translation for the Swazi, Xhosa, Ndebele and Zulu word "Mpumalanga", the name given to the South African Province, which lies in the northeast regions of the Country.

Bordered by Mozambique and Swaziland in the east and Gauteng to the west, the province of Mpumalanga is perfectly situated on the high plateau grasslands of the Middleveld, which stretch eastwards for hundreds of kilometers. Rising towards the Mountain peaks into the northeast it terminates in an immense escarpment, which in places plunges hundreds of meters down to the low-lying regions know as the Lowveld.

The eastern regions of the Mpumalanga province is dominated by the southern halve of the Kruger National Park, which is a park teeming with African wildlife.

The capital city of the province, Nelspruit is the administrative hub of the Lowveld, while other towns and regions play significant roles in the economic progression of the province. Witbank is the centre of the coal mining industry, while Standerton in the south is known for its dairy industry and Piet Retief in the southeast is the production area for tropical fruits and sugar, although a large sugar industry is also found in Malelane in the east.

Most of the wool produced in South Africa is said to be from Ermelo, while Barberton is one of the oldest gold-mining town in South Africa. And, where the heart of the Tourism industry of the province of Mpumalanga lies, Sabie is situated in the forestry Heartland of the Country.

The accommodation consists of the Ruby Royal and 5 individually decorated suites named after classical composers. The perfect venue for weddings, parties or any social gathering.

Mozart Royal
Most spacious and situated away from the four luxury suites, the Mozart is purely grand and ideal for the honeymoon couple and the celebration of a dreamy occasion. The large round bathroom (in the middle tower) boasts a couple-sized bath with a fine view over the wetland. Other significantly royal features are a gigantic, but cosy antique bed, various other pieces of glorious antique furniture, ornate frames and red velvet curtains. Please note that the Mozart Royal can also be changed into a twin bed suite.

Puccini Deluxe
The Puccini is ideal for tall people because the brass bed allows for ‘long comfort’. It has a definite masculine feel to it with a warm, yellow-brown colour scheme and once again, a spacious shower area overlooking the wetland. The furniture depicts a classy, rustic quality. Bedroom furniture are antique while the en-suite vanities feature a modern free standing bath and a spacious walk-in shower and toilet.

Strauss Deluxe
This suite has a gentle, feminine feel to it. Frivolous (like the waltzes!) pink curtains and soft pink, Carrara-like vanity tops, exquisite, rare antique furniture with inlaid artwork by a master carpenter. Although a double bed, this room is for the not so tall. Bedroom furniture are antique while the en-suite vanities feature a modern free standing bath and a spacious walk-in shower and toilet.

Gounod Deluxe
A luscious suite with a complete set of Art Deco furniture. Ample mirrors create a spacious sensation. The exquisite ‘black and blue diamond’ granite top vanities, together with the typical Art Deco chandelier above the free-standing bath personify the sensual-dramatic essence of this suite. Bedroom furniture are antique while the en-suite vanities feature a modern free standing bath and a spacious walk-in shower and toilet.

Ruby Royal
The Ruby Royal is ideal for guests who dare to have a completely different and exciting experience in an Arabian setting. The works of art in this suite are definitely not for the morally hypersensitive or prejudiced and therefore it is better to enquire about more detail before you decide to make a reservation. The bedroom tower has a four meter high mirrored ceiling. The throne chamber (toilet) boasts a tiara, mirrors, ‘ruby’ jewels and optical fibre lights (a place where there can be no secrets!). A spacious shower overlooking the plunge pool and indoor garden promises sheer enjoyment (please note that the Ruby Royal has no bath). The indoor plunge pool is heated to a playful temperature of 35 degrees Celcius. The ultimate private and romantic dinner for two is served inside the Ruby Suite garden area!!
